What if someone told you that your happiness was entirely up to you?

Your first reaction to that would be “Well, can you tell my life that?”

Today your life may not be where you thought it would be, but waiting for tomorrow to be happy maybe affecting the quality of life you live today. Wishing and hoping for a better life tomorrow is actually making you miss out on the great life you are having today. Great things are happening in your life today, take the time to recognize and acknowledge them.

Happiness is all in your choosing to be happy. It is a simple choice of not having external situations, personalities or circumstances affect how you feel. This is easier said than done but here are three quick reminders on how you can choose to be happy today.

      1. Be Responsible. Recognize that your happiness is solely dependent on you! You are the only one that can make you happy. No one else in your life should have the power to take happiness away from you, unless you allow them too. Take control of your happiness today.
      2. Be Grateful. Give thanks for what you have today. People always compare their lives to others, this affects your happiness. Just as you are comparing your life to someone else, someone may be comparing their life to yours.  Be grateful for what you have today, it is all about perspective. Your life is enough today.
      3. Just Smile. Just by smiling and keeping a positive attitude can change how you conduct your day today. Smile at everyone you meet, spread cheer and joy. You might be surprised at the response you get from people just because you have a happy attitude. People will respond to you how you respond to them.
